Programs and Details
At Isaac Beaulieu Memorial School, a student’s whole journey unfolds in one place. From their first days in Nursery, to the moment they finish Grade 12, students grow up surrounded by the same community — known by name, supported through every stage, and encouraged to believe in what they can become.
That continuity is part of what makes IBMS special. Teachers watch students grow year over year. Older students become role models for the younger ones. Families build a lasting relationship with a school that’s woven into the life of the community.
Our programs are organized into stages, each shaped around where students are in their growth. From the early years that build confidence and a love of learning, through the middle years that stretch curiosity and independence, to the senior years that prepare students for whatever path they choose next.
Through it all, one purpose holds steady: to foster learning, growth, confidence, respect, and understanding, and to build a strong, healthy, and safe environment for every student in our community.

Our Role in the Community
Isaac Beaulieu Memorial School has always been more than a place to learn. It’s woven into the life of Sandy Bay — a school operated by the Nation, for the children and families of the Nation, carrying forward a commitment to education that this community chose for itself.
That role doesn’t end at Grade 12. IBMS is also home to the Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation Post-Secondary Student Support Program, which walks alongside our graduates as they head to college, university, and trades. Students find real support there, not just funding, but help with applications, budgeting, course planning, and counselling. The goal is simple: that no young person from Sandy Bay has to chase their education alone.
When this community invests in a student, it’s investing in everyone. Graduates come back as teachers, leaders, role models, and parents — and the circle continues. Every child who walks through our doors carries the hopes of the people around them.
That’s the heart of what we do: building purpose, confidence, and capacity, and helping our community grow stronger with every student we send forward.

Courses and Programs
Academics
Isaac Beaulieu Memorial School offers a full Nursery to Grade 12 education following the Manitoba provincial curriculum. From a child’s earliest years through to graduation, students work toward the same provincially recognized standards as schools across Manitoba, earning a high school diploma that opens doors to college, university, trades, and the path they choose next. What sets the experience apart isn’t the curriculum alone, but where it’s taught: a school rooted in this community, where students are known by name and supported at every stage.
Athletics: The Sandy Bay Badgers
School pride runs deep at IBMS, and our students carry it onto the volleyball court as the Sandy Bay Badgers. Both our girls’ and boys’ varsity teams compete in the Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association, representing the school and the Nation against teams from across the province. For our players, it’s about more than the game, it’s teamwork, discipline, confidence, and the pride of wearing the Badgers name.
Student Support Services
At Isaac Beaulieu Memorial School, support doesn’t stop at the classroom door, and it doesn’t stop at graduation. From a student’s earliest years through to life after Grade 12, our community works to make sure no young person has to navigate their education alone.
Support beyond Grade 12
For students heading to college, university, or the trades, IBMS is home to the Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation Post-Secondary Student Support Program. It’s a hands-on kind of help: the program assists students with applying to post-secondary institutions, planning their budgets, and choosing their courses, and it provides counselling and mental health support along the way. Tutorial assistance is available for those who need it. The goal is simple: to help every graduate from Sandy Bay succeed in their education and come back ready to give to their community.
